Ocean Odyssey

What do we know about our oceans? |

At our Ocean Odyssey exhibit, you can take a deep dive into the largest ecosystem on Earth! The ocean makes up about 70% of Earth’s surface, but we’ve explored less than 5%. What we have learned, however, is explored here, alongside how we’ve learned it. Oceanography is the study of all parts of the ocean including its physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, so there’s a lot to cover!

This exhibit is right around the corner from Rock On and most of our Main Gallery. Set up as a dive into the five layers of the ocean, each panel contains lots of information! With the help of exhibit mascot Oli the Octopus, you'll enter at the intertidal and explore the epipelagic, mesopelagic, bathypelagic, abyssopelagic, hadalpelagic, and the ocean floor.
