Fossils

In 1924, Dr. Merton Yarwood Williams established UBC’s first fossil collection. Over the next several decades, the collection grew, most notably during the 1970s/80s under the curation of Joe Nagel. The collection is now housed in the Beaty Biodiversity Museum and contains over 20,000 specimens, some of which preserve evidence of life dating back to the Precambrian. Search here.
