Teaching & Learning

Some visitors spend an hour with us. Others discover a lifelong passion.

Learning happens when people can touch, explore, question, and discover for themselves. Through facilitated programs, tours, outreach activities, and special events, the Pacific Museum of Earth invites people of all ages to connect with Earth science through real specimens, hands-on activities, creative problem-solving, and scientific inquiry.

Every year, thousands of children, students, and community members engage with Earth science through hands-on experiences at the museum. They touch real fossils and minerals, design planets, solve geological mysteries, investigate ocean ecosystems, explore human evolution, and journey through Earth’s past. Through observation, experimentation, creativity, and scientific inquiry, participants are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, and make their own discoveries.

Support for the Teaching & Learning Fund helps us develop new programs, expand outreach initiatives, create educational resources, and reduce barriers to participation. Your gift helps ensure that meaningful Earth science learning opportunities remain available to students, families, educators, and communities across British Columbia.

  • Creating hands-on learning resources that support educators before, during, and after their museum visit.
  • Establishing a field trip bursary program to reduce financial barriers for schools.
  • Developing dedicated family learning and children’s discovery spaces within the museum.
  • Supporting public programs, community events, and opportunities to engage directly with Earth scientists.
