Natural Disasters

Are you prepared for natural hazards near you?

In the Vancouver area the hazards most likely to be experienced include landslides and earthquakes.

Around the world other communities must deal with volcanic eruptions, tsunami, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and perhaps even meteor impacts. Any of these may cause major property and economic damage as well as loss of life. Visit PME, explore the mechanisms behind these natural processes, and learn tips for becoming aware of, and prepared for, an unexpected natural disaster.

Our gallery exhibits are reproduced in virtual form below under Virtual Displays, including some with audio commentaries. Browse, listen and enjoy!

Also, take a virtual Google-Earth field trip focusing on natural hazards in the Vancouver to Whistler region.
